We perform gas detector inspection and calibration for devices used to detect combustible and toxic gases, as well as oxygen deficiency or enrichment.
Each device is inspected first. Only if its response or readings require correction do we perform gas detector calibration or adjustment, depending on the design of the device and the options provided by the manufacturer. After these procedures, the device is inspected again.

What does a gas detector inspection involve?
A gas detector inspection allows us to assess whether the detector responds correctly to a specific gas and whether its readings, alarm thresholds and signalling operate properly.
The detector is exposed to an appropriate gas mixture of known concentration and its response is observed.
Depending on the design of the device, gas detector testing may include:
- the sensor response to a specific gas,
- the indicated concentration,
- operation of alarm thresholds,
- visual and audible signalling,
- the response of individual sensors in multi-gas detectors.
If the device operates correctly, there is no need to adjust its settings.
If the inspection reveals deviations that require correction, we perform calibration or adjustment, depending on the design of the device and the options provided by the manufacturer.
Gas detector calibration
If the inspection shows that the device response or readings require correction, and the detector design allows appropriate adjustment, we perform gas detector calibration or adjustment.
In service practice, this means adjusting the detector response to a gas of known concentration.
After calibration, the device is exposed again to an appropriate gas mixture in order to verify the result of the adjustment.
We therefore do not calibrate a detector “blindly”. The starting point is always an inspection of its actual operation.
How is the service performed?
1. We identify the device
We determine the detector model, the sensors installed and the gases detected.
2. We inspect the detector
We apply an appropriate gas or gas mixture and assess the device response.
3. We assess the result
We determine whether the device operates correctly or requires correction.
4. We perform calibration or adjustment
If necessary and technically possible, we adjust the device accordingly.
5. We inspect the detector again
We verify its operation after the service has been completed.
Price of gas detector inspection and calibration
The service price is PLN 290 net.
The service includes checking the operation of the detector and, if required and technically possible for the particular device, performing calibration or adjustment followed by another inspection.
Before sending the device for service, it is helpful to provide:
- the manufacturer,
- detector model,
- type of gases detected,
- number and type of sensors installed.
This allows us to confirm whether we can provide the service for the particular device.
What types of gas detectors do we inspect and calibrate?
We service various types of devices designed for gas detection and atmosphere monitoring.
These include:
- single-gas detectors,
- multi-gas detectors,
- portable gas detectors,
- combustible gas detectors,
- toxic gas detectors,
- oxygen deficiency and enrichment detectors,
- gas leak detectors and leak locators,
- fixed gas detectors.
For selected fixed devices, the inspection can also be carried out at the place where they are installed.
Whether inspection and calibration can be performed depends on the design of the particular device and the sensors installed.
If you are unsure whether we can service your detector, send us the manufacturer’s name and the exact model of the device.
Single-gas detectors
A single-gas detector is designed to detect one specific gas in the atmosphere or in a gas mixture.
Depending on its application, the device may be designed to detect, for example:
- carbon monoxide CO,
- hydrogen sulphide H₂S,
- methane CH₄,
- other combustible gases,
- oxygen O₂.
During the inspection, we assess the device response to the gas appropriate for the sensor installed.
Multi-gas detectors
Multi-gas detectors are equipped with several sensors and allow different components of the atmosphere to be monitored simultaneously.
A typical configuration may include, for example:
- O₂,
- CO,
- H₂S,
- combustible gases.
In such a device, individual sensors are inspected using appropriate gases or gas mixtures.
The available scope of service depends on the device model and the configuration of the sensors installed.
Gas leak detectors for gas installations
We also inspect selected gas leak detectors and leak locators used, among other applications, for checking gas installations.
For these devices, it is important to verify whether the detector responds correctly to the presence of the target gas and to changes in its concentration.
The scope of service is always adapted to the design of the particular model.
When should a gas detector be inspected?
A detector should be inspected in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements and the rules applicable at the place where it is used.
An additional inspection is also advisable when:
- the device has not been used for an extended period,
- there are doubts about its readings or response,
- the detector has been exposed to a high gas concentration,
- the device has been damaged or subjected to a strong impact,
- a sensor has been replaced,
- the inspection interval recommended by the manufacturer is approaching,
- the device is to be used for work related to human safety.
The fact that a detector starts up and reports no error does not necessarily mean that its sensor responds correctly to gas.
Gas detector inspection vs. gas concentration meter calibration
Gas detector inspection and calibration are not the same as the calibration of a measuring instrument.
A gas detector is primarily intended to detect specific gases and warn the user about their presence or when predefined alarm thresholds are exceeded. Many detectors also display the current gas concentration.
For instruments intended primarily to measure gas concentration, the appropriate service may instead be gas concentration meter calibration.
If you have a device that displays concentration values and are unsure whether it should be regarded as a detector, meter or analyzer, see:
Gas concentration meter or gas analyzer – what’s the difference?
If you require a metrological service for a meter, go to:
Gas Concentration Meter Calibration
Inspection, calibration or repair?
Not every incorrect detector response means that calibration alone will solve the problem.
If the sensor is worn out or the device has a technical fault, adjustment alone may not restore correct operation.
For this reason, the service always begins with an inspection of the device before any further action is taken.
This allows us to determine whether the detector:
- operates correctly,
- requires adjustment, calibration or sensor replacement,
- may require further diagnostics or repair.
Frequently asked questions
Is every detector calibrated immediately?
No. We inspect the device first. Calibration or adjustment is performed only when the inspection result shows that it is necessary and the design of the device allows such a procedure.
Do you inspect multi-gas detectors?
Yes. We also service multi-gas detectors. Whether the full scope of service can be performed depends on the device model, the sensors installed and the gases detected.
Can you inspect a detector that displays gas concentration?
Yes. Many detectors display the current gas concentration. Such a device may function as a detector, a concentration meter, or combine both functions.
Depending on its intended use, the appropriate service may be inspection and calibration or metrological calibration. If you are unsure, we can help determine the appropriate scope of service.
Is gas detector calibration the same as metrological calibration?
No. These are different procedures.
Gas detector calibration or adjustment is intended to set the detector response correctly, whereas metrological calibration determines the relationship between an instrument indication and a reference value.
What information should I provide before ordering the service?
It is best to provide the manufacturer and exact model of the device, the gases detected and, if known, the configuration of the sensors installed.
Do you inspect gas detectors at their installation site?
Yes. We also perform gas detector inspections at the place of installation, including boiler rooms, underground garages and other facilities equipped with gas detection systems.
